Five Huskies Score In Dominant Shutout Over San Diego
August 27, 2023 | Women's Soccer
Five different Huskies found the back of the net, four of which bagged their first goal of the season.
The UW keepers weren't called into action too often, with the Dawgs garnering a 16-5 shot advantage in the affair, but came up with the goods when tested as Olivia Juarez and Mia Hamant combined for the clean sheet.
After a pair of early corner kick opportunities for Washington, Tatum Thomason got the Huskies on the board in the third minute, finishing off a reservice into the 18, the sophomore beat the keeper low, putting UW up 1-0.
Less than two minutes later, Thomason had the ball in the back of the net again. However, the goal was chalked off for a handball in the buildup, nonetheless sending a precursor for how the proceeding 85 minutes would go.
Just over 12 minutes in, Radisson Banks sent home the Huskies' second and this one would hold up. Taking advantage of a turnover in the defensive third by USD, the true freshmen scored with her left, hitting the far corner of the goal to double the Husky lead.Tatum with the early tally to put the Dawgs on top!

The Husky dominance continued in the second half and in the 71st minute, Kalea Eichenberger made it 5-0. Breaking on the counter, Papatheodorou slipped a perfectly timed through ball in as Eichenberger beat the offside trap. With just the keeper to beat, the Cal State Bakersfield transfer lifted a chipped shot over and hit the side netting to close out scoring for the afternoon. One word: GOLAZO
