THE LAST TIME OUT
The Huskies won the Seattle Regional after going 4-1 last weekend. Washington opened with a 10-2 six inning win over Northern Colorado on Friday night. On Saturday, the Huskies clinched their spot in Championship Sunday with a 3-1 victory over McNeese. During Championship Sunday, the Huskies had to face McNeese for the second day in a row, but lost the first game of the day 1-0 against the Cowgirls that forced the if necessary game seven.
Β
Down six runs in the seventh, the Huskies were down to their final three outs...but that did not stop them. With one out, UW was able to make it a four-run game on an RBI double by Jadelyn Allchin and a sac fly from Rylee Holtorf. Kelley Lynch brough in the next run on an RBI single. With bases loaded and two outs, Sami Reynolds hit a bases-clearing double to tie the game. Madison Huskey brought in the game-winning run on a double of her own to complete the six-run comeback. SCOUTING THE RAGIN' CAJUNS
Louisiana makes their way to Seattle after winning the Baton Rouge Regional last weekend over No. 10-seed LSU. The Ragin' Cajuns earned the Sun Belt's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament after winning the conference tournament championship over Marshall. Heading into the tournament, Louisiana was ranked 11th in the RPI and have the 11th toughest strength of schedule. At the plate, Mihyla Davis and Lauren Allred lead the team with a .382 average. Karly Heath leads the team with 16 home runs and 47 RBI. Davis leads the nation with 51 stolen bases on the season in 59 attempts. Overall, the Ragin' Cajuns have five players with over 30 RBI. As a team, Louisiana is seventh nationally with 142 stolen bases. In the circle, the pitching staff has three pitchers with double-digit wins in Kandra Lamb (10-1), Meghan Schorman (14-6) and Sam Landry (19-5). Landry leads the way with eight complete games, four shutouts and 146 strikeouts in 28 starts and 40 appearances.
Β

Β
HUSKIES VS. THE FIELD
Of the 15 remaining teams competing for a spot in the WCWS next week, the Huskies have faced six of them this season: Oklahoma, Utah, San Diego State, Oregon, Duke and Stanford. In the 12 games played against the teams, Washington is 8-4 with wins over Utah, Duke, Oregon, Stanford and San Diego State.
Β
FUTURE PRODAWG
Last month, Baylee Klingler was selected as the second overall pick in the Women's Professional Fastpitch (WPF) 2023 Draft by the Texas Smoke. Based out of Austin, the Texas Smoke are led by head coach Tori Tyson in the team's inaugural season. Klingler was also one of 14 current student-athletes drafted by Athletes Unlimited (AU) this past Monday. She will have the opportunity to sign with an organization once her eligibility at UW is completed following the 2023 season.
Β
TOUGH SCHEDULE
Washington has compiled one of the toughest schedules in the nation this season. Against the Top 25, the Huskies have posted an 11-7 record with wins over Duke, UCLA, Stanford, Oregon and Utah. Entering the Pac-12 Tournament, Washington is ranked 10th in the RPI.
Β
NO-NO X 2
On Feb. 23 Kelley Lynch threw her first career no-hitter, doing so against Bethune-Cookman at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. Lynch allowed only one runner to reach base on a hit-by-pitch in the first inning. She struck out 13. Lynch and Ruby Meylan combined for the second no-hitter this season, doing so in game one at Oregon State on April 14. The Huskies have thrown 49 no-hitters in program history.
Β
RECORD WATCH
Baylee Klingler is one grand slam away from setting the program record in career grand slams. The fifth-year senior has five so far - four of which came last season and one this year against Hofstra. Ruby Meylan is one save away from tying the program record for saves in a single season with seven with Tia Bollinger (2002). She needs two more to have the feat on her own.
