Washington Defeats San Francisco to Move On to WNIT Second Round

SEATTLE – In their first postseason appearance since 2017, Washington women's basketball (16-14, 7-11 Pac-12) is moving on in the WNIT after defeating San Francisco (19-13, 9-9 WCC) 61-46 in the First Round on Thursday night in Alaska Airlines Arena.
Behind a team field goal percentage of 43%, three Huskies scored in double digits, led by a game-high 14 points from Dalayah Daniels. Daniels recorded her 10th career double-double and sixth as a Husky with an additional 11 rebounds. Haley Van Dyke (12 points) and Hannah Stines (10) were the other two in double figures.
Van Dyke added eight rebounds, surpassing 700 career rebounds, and the Huskies as a team out-rebounded the Dons 46-33. It was a total team effort, as UW also recorded 15 assists.
"They're really selfless," head coach Tina Langley said. "I love the way we share the ball and the way that we want to get the best shots we can."
The Washington defense held San Francisco to 27% from the field, well below USF's season average. The 46 points scored by USF tied their lowest scoring game of the season.
The Huskies will host the Second Round game against New Mexico in Alaska Airlines Arena at a date and time to be determined.
Senior Van Dyke was excited to talk about the opportunity to be at home again.
"We have really great fans and they all showed out today," Van Dyke said. "We're excited to get back out there and play in front of them again."
