UW Drops Tough Contest To McNeese

LAKE CHARLES, La. – The No. 12 Washington Huskies had their six-game win streak come to an end, falling 3-2 at McNeese on Monday. The Huskies are 9-2 after today's game.
McNeese (8-2) scored its first run of the contest on a single and a defensive miscue with one out in the second. The Cowgirls tacked on another run in the third for a 2-0 lead.
Olivia Johnson was walked to lead off the top of the fourth. With one out, Madison Huskey got a hold of a ball to send it over the center field wall to tie that game a two apiece. It was Huskey's third home run of the season.
The Cowgirls answered back in the bottom half of the inning with a solo home run to retake the lead for the final time at 3-2.
Up next, the Huskies make their second trip to Southern California for the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic Feb. 23-25 at Big Dreams Field in Cathedral City, Calif. Over the three days, Washington will face Bethune-Cookman, No. 17 Kentucky, Long Beach State, UC San Diego and San Diego State. All games will stream on FloSoftball.
