October 03, 2023 | Men's Golf
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The third-ranked Washington men's golf team posted the low round of the day on Tuesday at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational moving up to third at on-over par for the tournament.
Â
Washington shot a seven-under 281 on the day, a 15-shot improvement over its first round score and tied with Mississippi State for the best round put up on Tuesday at Blessings Golf Club.
Â
"We didn't have our best outing yesterday so it was great to see the guys respond the way they did today," head coach Alan Murray said.
Â
True freshman Finn Koelle posted UW's best round, firing a five-under 67 to match North Texas' Diego Prone for the low round of the day. Koelle sits at one-over overall, tied for 16th.
Â
"It was a great round by Finn," Murray said. "He managed his game really well today, which was impressive to see from a freshman."
Â
Carding four birdies with a single bogey, Petr Hruby's 69 was good to move into a tie for sixth at the tournament at one-under.
Â
"Petr was really steady with a very good score and with a little better play on the greens it could have been even better," Murray said.
Â
After carding a double bogey on his first hole of the day, Teddy Lin responded without a bogey the rest of the way, mixing in three birdies to tie for 18th at two-over for the tournament. Bo Peng and Taehoon Song are tied for 23rd at four-over.
Â
With inclement weather forecasted in the Fayetteville, tee times for the third and final round of the Blessings Collegiate have been moved up. UW is set to tee off at 7 a.m. PT on hole number one.
