Huskies Tally 24 Assists In Exhibition Win Over Saint Martin's

SEATTLE – Keion Brooks Jr. scored 22 points in 14 minutes and Washington won an exhibition game 103-58 against Saint Martin's on Sunday at Alaska Airlines Arena.
"I was impressed with our speed, our skill level and our toughness," Head Coach Mike Hopkins said after the win. "Our guys were locked in and that was exciting."
Koren Johnson scored 21 points, 13 of which came in the second half on 5-of-10 shooting. Wilhelm Breidenbach finished with a double-double.
The Huskies led 56-26 at halftime with 15 assists on 22 made baskets. Both Brooks and Nate Calmese reached double figures before the break. Calmese was perfect from the field (4-for-4) with a couple triples. He finished with 14 points, five rebounds and five assists.
The Dawgs began the game with a 10-0 run. Moses Wood sunk a corner three on a feed from Sahvir Wheeler for the first points of the ballgame.
On the following possession Wheeler streamed down the lane, finished at the rim and completed the three-point play with a free throw.
The Huskies finished the game with 23 assists. They shot 58 percent in the first half, making 47 percent of their shots from three-point range.
The Huskies open the 2023-24 season on Monday, Nov. 6 against Bellarmine at Alaska Airlines Arena. Tickets are on sale.
