Powell Named Walter Camp Defensive Player Of The Week

Washington cornerback Mishael Powell was named the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week, the Walter Camp Football Foundation announced today.
The junior from Seattle had three tackles, one pass break up and a pick-six in Washington's 15-7 victory over Arizona State. Powell's 89-yard fourth quarter interception return for a touchdown is the sixth-longest in UW history.
Powell is the sixth Washington player to earn Walter Camp National FBS Player of the Week honors since 2004. He joins Michael Penix Jr. as the two Huskies to earn the award this season.
This is the 20th year that the Walter Camp Football Foundation will honor one offensive and one defensive player as its national Football Bowl Subdivision player of the week during the regular season. Recipients are selected by a panel of national media members and administered by the Foundation. It is the nation's longest running Player of Week award.
