Pair Of First Half Goals Sink Huskies vs. Oregon State
September 30, 2023 | Men's Soccer
SEATTLE – Washington allowed a pair of late first half goals Saturday night against Oregon State and couldn't overcome the deficit, falling 2-0 on a chilly night on Montlake.
The first half between the Huskies (4-3-3, 1-1-1 Pac-12) and Beavers (5-3-1, 2-0-1 Pac-12) was largely back-and-forth, despite the two goal lead at the Break for the Beavers.
Logan Farrington gave the Beavers the lead in the 36th minute, capitalizing on a dropped cross inside the six, poking home the loose ball to put OSU in front.
Just under 10 minutes later, Fabian Straudi slipped a ball in to Farrington inside the 18. The senior squared a ball to Dante Williams, who half-volleyed his shot past Sam Fowler in goal to double the Beaver advantage.
Washington came out of the halftime break energized to get back in the contest and were able to control much of the attack through the second 45 minutes. However, the Huskies couldn't break down the Beaver defense despite garnering an 8-4 advantage on shots during the half.
The Huskies will look to respond Thursday night at home against San Diego State, hosting the Aztecs for a 7 p.m. PT kickoff. The match will air on Pac-12 Washington.
