Schedules Set For UW Rowing's 2023 Season
January 26, 2023 | Men's Rowing, Women's Rowing
Washington's men's and women's rowing teams are hard at work as the start of the 2023 spring season grows nearer each day.
The traditional start to the Washington rowing season comes each year with Class Day. This year, the 122nd annual Class Day Regatta will be held on Sat., March 18, on the Montlake Cut.
Just two days later, the UW men will race in a dual with UC San Diego, opening a week-long camp at the Chula Vista Training Center in the San Diego area. The following Saturday, March 25, the Washington women will host the Husky Open on Montlake Cut.
The first weekend of April will be a busy one as both the men's and women's teams will face tough competition. The men will travel to Sarasota, Fla., where they will race against both Yale and Brown at Nathan Benderson Park. The women will compete at the three-day San Diego Crew Classic on Mission Bay, racing against many of the nation's top programs during the three-day regatta.
On Saturday, April 8, the men's team will travel south to take on Oregon State at Dexter Lake and, two weeks later, both UW programs will play host to California in the annual UW-Cal Dual, April 22 on Montlake Cut.
The Opening Day/Windermere Cup Regatta is scheduled for the first Saturday in May, May 6, on Montlake Cut. The field for that event will be released soon. Once again this year, the Windermere Cup crews will also race in the Twilight Sprints the evening before, Friday, May 5.
Following the Windermere Cup and Opening Day races, the postseason gets underway on Sunday, May 14, with the 2023 Pac-12 Championships, held for the second year in a row at Dexter Lake in Oregon.
Two weeks later, the UW women will compete at the 2023 NCAA Championships, May 26-28, in Camden, N.J. The men's national championships – the IRA Championships – are June 2-4, at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J.
