September 27, 2022 | Softball, Washington Athletics Staff Central
SEATTLE – Washington softball head coach Heather Tarr has signed a contract extension that will keep her on Montlake through the 2029 season, Director of Athletics Jen Cohen announced on Tuesday.
"The University of Washington has been my home for a long time now, and I am so proud to know that it will continue to be for a while longer," said Tarr. "I appreciate the continued support from Jen Cohen and our athletic department, donors, student-athletes and the alumni who have built this program."
Entering her 19th season with the Huskies, Tarr has guided Washington to two Pac-12 Championships, 17 Regionals, 14 Super Regionals and seven College World Series appearances. In 2009, the Huskies won the National Championship for the first time in program history.
"Coach Tarr sets a standard of excellence that we all strive for every day in Husky Athletics," said Cohen. "As Washington's all-time winningest coach, Heather builds winning environments for her student-athletes both on and off the field. I couldn't be more excited to support her leading Husky Softball for many years to come."
Under Tarr, Washington has seen 33 NFCA All-American, 105 All-Conference and 10 Pac-12 Players of the Year. Five times the Huskies have won 50 or more games. Washington has been ranked in the NFCA National Coaches Poll for 216 consecutive weeks.
Through her 18 seasons, Tarr has a career record of 744-283-1. Her .724 winning percentage is 11th amongst active DI softball head coaches, while the 744 wins is the most in Washington history.
An alumnus of Washington, Tarr has been a part of 24 of the program's 30 years as either a player or coach.
"I can't wait to see what the future holds for our current team and our athletic department.," Tarr concluded.
