SEATTLE – The University of Washington announced today the Official NIL Marketplace of the Washington Huskies. The marketplace will benefit student-athletes as they seek NIL (name, image and likeness) opportunities.
Working with Opendorse, a leading technology and education partner in the NIL space, the Washington Marketplace is a branded environment which will contain a directory of Husky student-athletes. This directory may be accessed by parties interested in hiring student-athletes for NIL activities. The Washington Marketplace is the compliant platform, built for student-athletes, that allows NIL-related connections to be made between third parties and student-athletes.
"We are excited to bring this platform to life for our student-athletes," said Senior Associate Athletic Director Jamaal Walton. "The Washington Marketplace simplifies the process and gives student-athletes a place to help them succeed in the NIL era. As an administration, we are here to serve student-athletes. With our partner, Opendorse, we have built this marketplace with service in mind."
Every Husky student-athlete is able to utilize the marketplace. Through Opendorse, student-athletes can create a customized profile and promote to fans via social media.
"Today's announcement of the Washington Marketplace reaffirms the commitment UW athletics has to supporting student-athletes on and off the field of play," said Opendorse CEO Blake Lawrence. "Now, any fan or brand can confidently offer compliant NIL deals to their favorite Huskies in just seconds. We're proud to align with another program that puts student-athletes first, with a clear commitment to support and educate them as they navigate NIL."
In addition to this marketplace, Washington Athletics continues to lead the way in providing resources for student-athletes to maximize their NIL opportunities.
