SEATTLE -- Washington's stretch of five matches in nine days resumes on Wednesday as the Huskies and Ducks meet for the second time this season at Bill Quillian Stadium at 2 p.m. The match won't count towards the Pac-12 standings, as it is a rescheduled match from back in February, but it remains a crucial match for both teams as they try and move up the rankings for NCAA Championship contention.
A new set of ITA rankings factoring in last week's competitions will be released tomorrow morning, on match day, but as of Tuesday, UW sits at No. 50 nationally while the Ducks come in at No. 44, although the Huskies are 2-2 in conference play and Oregon is 0-4. Washington split last week against UCLA and USC, while Oregon lost to both L.A. squads. The Dawgs beat UCLA last Friday for the first time since 2006, winning every set in singles until they clinched a 5-1 win. Washington played tough against the 13th-ranked Trojans on Sunday, but ultimately fell short, 4-1, with Jack Davis earning the one point at No. 2 singles.
Oregon and Washington met for the first time one month ago on Mar. 5 in Eugene, with the Huskies earning a tight 4-2 win. Clement Chidekh had a comeback three set win to clinch the victory at No. 1 singles and UW also got singles wins from Jack Davis and Han-Chih Lin in the two and three spots, plus a doubles point victory that hinged on a tiebreak win at No. 2.
Oregon's Joshua Charlton ranks 79th nationally in singles while Charlton and Quinn Vandecasteele are 25th as a doubles team.
