UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – Sophomore Camille Boyd finished in a tie for second place to lead the Washington women's golf team to a second-place finish Tuesday at the Seattle University Redhawk Invitational at cold and windy Chambers Bay Golf Course.
The UW completed the two-day, three-round tournament with a 30-over total of 894. Boyd, who led four Huskies who finished in the top 15, completed the tournament with a one-over total of 217, two strokes behind the medalist, Emma Spitz of UCLA.
Scores at the notoriously difficult Chambers Bay course were high across the entire 18 team field on Tuesday as UCLA's 13-over 301 was the best team score of the day.
"It was a tough couple of days," said UW head coach Mary Lou Mulflur. "It was definitely a learning experience for us in some brutal conditions. We have a quick turnaround for our conference Championships, so we will rest up for a couple of days and get back to it."
UW freshman Kennedy Knox finished in a tie for eighth place overall. Her 2-over 74 was the best round of the day among her teammates, and she finished the tournament with a 6-over total of 222.
Jamie Hsieh finished in 13th place with a score of 9-over 225, while teammate Brittany Kwon, playing as an individual, tied for 15th place at 10-over. Washington's Stefanie Deng landed just outside in the top 30, tying for 31st place at 16-over.
The tournament was the last of the regular season for the Huskies, who will travel to Eugene, Ore., for the 2022 Pac-12 Championships next Monday through Wednesday.
