Boyd, Huskies Finish Second At Chambers Bay
April 12, 2022 | Women's Golf
UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. β Sophomore Camille Boyd finished in a tie for second place to lead the Washington women's golf team to a second-place finish Tuesday at the Seattle University Redhawk Invitational at cold and windy Chambers Bay Golf Course.
Β
The UW completed the two-day, three-round tournament with a 30-over total of 894. Boyd, who led four Huskies who finished in the top 15, completed the tournament with a one-over total of 217, two strokes behind the medalist, Emma Spitz of UCLA.
Β
Scores at the notoriously difficult Chambers Bay course were high across the entire 18 team field on Tuesday as UCLA's 13-over 301 was the best team score of the day.
"It was a tough couple of days," said UW head coach Mary Lou Mulflur. "It was definitely a learning experience for us in some brutal conditions. We have a quick turnaround for our conference Championships, so we will rest up for a couple of days and get back to it."
Β
UW freshman Kennedy Knox finished in a tie for eighth place overall. Her 2-over 74 was the best round of the day among her teammates, and she finished the tournament with a 6-over total of 222.
Β
Jamie Hsieh finished in 13th place with a score of 9-over 225, while teammate Brittany Kwon, playing as an individual, tied for 15th place at 10-over. Washington's Stefanie Deng landed just outside in the top 30, tying for 31st place at 16-over.
Β
The tournament was the last of the regular season for the Huskies, who will travel to Eugene, Ore., for the 2022 Pac-12 Championships next Monday through Wednesday.
