UW Women Open Spring Season Vs. USC, WSU, In Vegas

The Washington women's rowing team begins its spring, 2022 season this Saturday when the Huskies travel to Lake Las Vegas to take on USC and Washington State.
The women's races are part of the Las Vegas Invitational, which also includes a handful of men's programs. The Huskies, Trojans and Cougars will compete in four events: the first and second eights, and first and second fours.
Here is the schedule for the UW women (UPDATED Sat., Mar. 5, at 7:00 a.m. PT):
1:00 p.m. PT – Second Varsity 4+
1:15 p.m. PT – First Varsity 4+
1:30 p.m. PT – Second Varsity 8+
1:45 p.m. PT – First Varsity 8+
Current plans are that there will be a live video broadcast via the Lake Las Vegas Rowing Club's Facebook page. The regatta (men's races first) is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. PT.
Washington enters the season ranked No. 3 in the preseason Pocock CRCA poll. The preseason top three matches the top-three finishers at last season's NCAA Championships, where No. 1 Texas, No. 2 Stanford and the Huskies all tied in total points. The tie-breaker (finish in the first eights grand final) awarded the 2021 title to the Longhorns and second place to the Cardinal.
This Saturday, the Huskies will square off with the preseason No. 17 team in Washington State. USC is unranked, though the Trojans received 32 points in the poll, placing them three spots outside of the top 20.
Washington has made Lake Las Vegas a home away from home as the UW women have competed there at least once – usually twice – every season going back to 2017. They'll return there again in April.
Following the Huskies' trip to Las Vegas, the next event on the schedule is the annual Class Day Regatta, March 19 on Montlake Cut, featuring both the UW men's and women's programs. The weekend after that, the Washington women travel to the San Diego Crew Class (March 26-27).
