SEATTLE -- After nearly two weeks straight on the road, the Husky women's tennis team is finally back home and looking to return to its winnings ways with the final two non-conference matches before Pac-12 play, taking onย Kansas State and Boise State. Washington, ranked 28th in the latest ITA poll, hosts the 71st-ranked Wildcats on Friday at the Nordstrom Tennis Center at 4 p.m. Then Saturday the Dawgs host the Broncos at 12 noon.
The Huskies are 7-4 on the season having lost to three top-15 teams at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships two weeks ago in Wisconsin. Washington remained on the road for matches last weekend at Purdue and Notre Dame, beating the Boilermakers but falling at Notre Dame in their most recent match, 5-2. Ranked 28th, the Huskies want to head into Pac-12 play with some momentum and can make that happen with two wins this weekend.
Kansas State is 4-2 on the season and tied for 71st in the ITA rankings. The Wildcats just visited another Pac-12 squad in Arizona State, winning the doubles and winning at No. 6 singles but falling by a 4-2 score. KSU has wins over Arkansas, Missouri State, South Dakota, and FAU.ย Karine-Marion Job leads Kansas State with a 14-6 record and is ranked 96th in singles, whileย Rosanna Maffeiย is ranked 108th.
Boise State still has yet to play a dual match this season after a number of cancellations. Bhakti Shah was named Mountain West Freshman of the Week back on Jan. 26 following the Long Beach State Winter Invitational. In 2021, the Broncos were 12-6 and 6-4 in Mountain West play.
