September 24, 2021 | Football
Washington's Race Porter is one of 22 college football players who have earned a spot on the 2021 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, the American College Football Coaches Association announced today.
Porter, a senior from Seattle, is a former walk-on who has played in a total of 44 games during his UW career, headed into Saturday's game vs. California. He's served as the Huskies' holder since the 2017 season, and in 2020 and 2021, has been the starting punter. This year, he has averaged 47.0 yards on three punts over three games, well ahead of school-record pace.
Additionally, Porter has spent the last several years bring attention to mental health. The 22 members of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team were chosen from 149 nominees.
"Every year, the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team embodies the best of college athletics. These players have a positive impact in society," said Emmanuel Acho, former NFL linebacker, television analyst and 2011 Good Works Team alumnus. "To be named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team is an honor. By rewarding these players for the impact they have on their communities, Allstate is truly demonstrating its commitment to making a difference across the country."
