UW Racks Up CRCA All-America & Coaching Awards
June 08, 2021 | Women's Rowing
The Washington women's rowing team was presented with a long list of awards from the College Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) today. Four UW women were named to the all-conference team, while head coach Yasmin Farooq and her staff were named Region 5 Coach and Coaching Staff of the Year, respectively.
The four women who earned a place on the all-conference team were varsity eight coxswain Nina Castagna and varsity eight rowers Teal Cohen, Ella Cossill and Skylar Jacobson.
Washington's coaching staff, made up of Josh Gautreau, Sam Casto, Allie Lohrenz, student coach Mia Luna and strength & conditioning coach Gabriela Quiggle, is now eligible for the National Coaching Staff of the Year, which the UW women's staff has won twice in the last five years (2017 and 2019).
Farooq, who has won the CRCA National Coach of the Year in those same two seasons, as well as in 2009 while at Stanford, went on to win National Coach of the Year in both 2017 and 2019.
The Washington women won a fourth consecutive Pac-12 Championship and won the national title in both the second varsity eight and the varsity four at NCAA Championships, where they finished third overall.
The CRCA will announce All-Americans and Scholar-Athlete Award winners in the coming days.
