Huskies Force Winner-Take-All Game With 2-0 Win
May 23, 2021 | Softball
SEATTLE โ The Washington Huskies forced a winner-take-all game seven at Regionals, defeating the Michigan Wolverines 2-0 Sunday. The Huskies scored both their runs early, on a Morganne Flores homer in the first inning and a Jadelyn Allchin RBI double in the second. That was all Washington needed, as Gabbie Plain and the Husky defense held Michigan to just two hits.
Plain was near unhittable today: after allowing a single on the first pitch of the game, Plain would not allow another hit until the sixth inning. Washington allowed only two Wolverines to reach scoring position all game long.
Michigan's best chance came in the sixth inning, when a single and a walk put two on with one out and the middle of the order coming out. Plain stayed her usual calm self, getting Michigan's three- and four-hole hitters to knock routine groundouts and keep the shutout in place. Plain would come back out for the seventh and retire Michigan in order to seal the win.
