Pitcher's Duel Goes Against Huskies In 2-1 Loss

SEATTLE – The Washington Huskies fell 2-1 to the Michigan Wolverines in the first Saturday game of Regionals. All three runs came on solo home runs in the sixth: Michigan had back-to-back shots in the top half of the inning, with Morganne Flores' launching her tenth career postseason home run in the bottom half.
The loss ended a 52-game home winning streak in Regionals for the Huskies. Washington had not lost a Regionals game in Seattle since 1995. Washington will now face the winner of Portland State-Seattle U tonight at 8:00 pm PT.
Washington's 1-2-3 trio of Sis Bates, Baylee Klingler, and Flores had all of Washington's hits today. Gabbie Plain threw six strong innings, with the only two runs allowed via the solo home runs. Plain did not walk a batter and struck out four. Brooke Nelson and Pat Moore combined to throw a scoreless seventh, allowing one baserunner via walk.
