ST. GEORGE, Utah – The #2 Washington Huskies stayed cool in a tight game against the BYU Cougars, scoring late to win 4-1. The sixth inning was pivotal: after Gabbie Plain stranded two runners on base in the top half, Washington managed five hits in the bottom half, scoring three times to take the lead for good.

Plain was excellent in the circle despite allowing her first run of the year. The senior had her 17^th career double-digit strikeout game, with 11 K's and just four hits allowed. She had three 1-2-3 innings, striking out the side in the fifth. After the Huskies struck to take the lead in the bottom of the sixth, Plain threw a perfect seventh, striking out the last two batters.

Offensively, Sis Bates, SilentRain Espinoza, and Jadelyn Allchin all managed multi-hit games. Bates would have three hits, driving in two runs for Washington. Espinoza had a perfect day, reaching in all three of her plate appearances. Allchin drove in the go-ahead run on her second hit of the day.

		SCORING
Third Inning: Washington's third hit straight back up the middle got the first run on the board. Bates bounced one into centerfield, giving Allchin enough time to score from second. Fourth Inning: A bit of good luck struck for BYU to make it 1-1. A bouncing ball was just over Plain's head in the circle then died completely out of reach of the infielders, allowing an infield single and a run to score. Sixth Inning: The Huskies spun together singles and just kept getting on base. Washington's fourth single of the inning came from Allchin, who brought one run home. Baylee Klingler followed up with a sacrifice fly to make it 3-1. Bates' third hit of the day would make it 4-1.

		NOTES
Plain (4 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 11 K) had her scoreless streak end at 29.2 innings, the second-longest of her career. Bates (3x4, 2B, 2 RBI) had her fourth multi-hit game of the young season. She has reached safely multiple times in all six games. Espinoza (2x2, BB) has multiple hits in three of her last four games. In her career, Espinoza has hit .667 with two runs and four RBI against BYU Allchin (2x3, R, RBI) had her first multi-hit game of the season and sixth of her career. Sami Reynolds (0x4) had her on-base streak end at 39 games, the second-longest in Husky history. Reynolds has not reached base just ten times in her three seasons.

Washington will have a doubleheader tomorrow, playing Nevada at 10:00 am PT and Dixie State right after, at 12:30 pm PT. There will be a live video stream for the Dixie State game only.
