No. 2 Huskies Set Pac-12 Record in 3-1 Win at Stanford

Early in the night, both teams would push forward and create chances early. Ultimately, it would be the Cardinal who found the back of the net first. Zach Ryan pushed in a near-post header in the 13th minute off of a great run up the right side by a teammate to put Stanford up 1-0.
The Huskies were unfazed, however, and answered right away. Washington once again worked its set piece magic, this time on a corner kick. Charlie Ostrem lifted in a deep ball to the far post, which Kendall Burks headed back across to the feet of Gio Miglietti, who would have a shot blocked, but Ryan Sailor was once again in the right spot and forced it home to tie the match.
UW kept up the pressure and was rewarded with a penalty kick in the 38th minute. Christian Soto started the fast break on the defensive end, before dishing to Dylan Teves on the attack. He found Imanol Rosales streaking up the left side into the box. The Stanford defender made a cynical challenge on Rosales and the referee signaled to the spot for a penalty. Teves stepped up and buried it with ease to give the Huskies a 2-1 lead.What an answer! The set piece king has done it again!!!

Washington would hold onto that 2-1 lead going into halftime.
In the second half, it was the Cardinal who went on the attack early, creating a fair amount of chances, but UW's defense held firm.
in the 72nd minute, Nick Scardina made a terrific move at midfield on a breakaway before being taken down in the box for another penalty kick. This time, however, Stanford's goalkeeper made a big save on Dylan Teves to keep it a 2-1 score for the time being.

After the Husky defense weathered another flurry of attacks from Stanford, Gio Miglietti put all concerns to rest. He won a contested ball up the left side and found himself one-on-one with the Cardinal goalkeeper. On a sharp angle, Miglietti tucked it away in the 90th minute to make it a 3-1 match and clinch the win.
As the final seconds ticked off the clock, Washington secured the best start by any conference team since the Pac-12 began sponsoring men's soccer in 2000. The Huskies mark of 10-0-0 also extends the program record for best start that they broke against UCLA on Sunday.
Next up for Washington is another road contest in the Bay Area, as the Huskies will take on California on Sunday at noon on the Pac-12 Network.
