July 27, 2020 | Men's Tennis
SEATTLE --- Despite a challenging winter and spring quarter learning environment, the Washington men's tennis team posted an impressive team GPA, earning ITA All-Academic Team honors with six players earning ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition.
"This last quarter and year were certainly nothing like any of us imagined," said Head Coach Matt Anger. "I am both relieved and thrilled with how our guys were able to stay focused with their classes and continue to excel. Honestly, they have impressed me!"
The Huskies finished the year with a 3.49 GPA including a remarkable 3.74 GPA in the spring quarter. Individually, six Huskies earned individual honors, recording a GPA of 3.50 or higher for the year: Alexis Alvarez, Thibault Cancel, Jack Davis, Nikit Reddy, Kasper Smith, Brandon Wong.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form. To earn ITA All-Academic Team recognition, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
