SEATTLE --- Washington returns home this weekend, opening Pac-12 play with a tough pair of matches, facing No. 22 UCLA on Friday at 3 pm and No. 1 USC on Sunday at Noon.
The Huskies (8-4) are coming off a pair of road wins last week, winning 6-1 at Sacramento State on Saturday before knocking off UC Davis 4-0 on Sunday. Washington is 6-2 at home this season, winning four of its last five overall.
Jack Davis has struggled a bit since jumping up to No. 43 in the latest ITA rankings, dropping a pair of three-set matches. He is 13-4 overall on the season and 8-3 in dual matches. In doubles, Davis and Alexis Alvarez closed out the weekend with a pair of hard-fought wins at No. 1 as the pair improved to 5-2 on the season.
Ewen Lumsden earned his first collegiate rankings last week, moving into the rankings at No. 119. Lumsden has won four-straight singles matches at No. 2 including a pair of easy wins at Sac State and UC Davis.
The opponents this weekend will definitely test the Huskies. UCLA comes in ranked No. 22 overall with a 6-4 overall record. The Bruins have three players ranked in singles play and a doubles team at No. 24 overall. USC is the top-ranked team in the country and is 11-1 on the year. The Trojans' entire singles lineup is ranked in the top 83 nationally with three doubles teams ranked in the Top 50 as well.
Both matches will be at the Nordstrom Tennis Center with free admission for all and free pizza available after the conclusion of the doubles matches.
