Washington Set to Host #4 Utah
February 25, 2020 | Gymnastics
SEATTLE - Washington will host #4 Utah on Sunday after earning the second-highest team score of the season against Arizona State. The GymDawgs reached a 196.875, their best mark since posting a 197.225 against California, but it wasn't enough to earn the win as ASU matched the score and the competition ended in a tie.
Washington will look to maintain their momentum on floor, thanks in large part to Kristyn Hoffa who scored her fifth consecutive 9.900 or higher against Arizona State while also earning the individual title. The GymDawgs have earned a 49.300 or higher on floor in five of their last six meets.
Evanni Roberson has continued her dominant stretch without missing a beat, grabbing her sixth individual title in the all around out of seven total competitions. With that win, she pushed her individual title count to a team-leading 12 on the season.
Geneva Thompson solidified her importance in the vault and bars lineups, earning a 9.850 on vault and grabbing the top Washington score during the rotation for the third meet in a row. She also earned a season-high 9.900 on bars to match her career-high.
Utah is coming off a win against UCLA in Pauley Pavilion in which they reached the 198 mark for the first time this season.
