GymDawgs Look for Sixth-Straight Win at Arizona State

Meet Notes

TEMPE, Ariz. - Washington heads to take on Arizona State after grabbing the third-best team score of the season last weekend against Arizona with a 196.600. The GymDawgs had a historic meet against Arizona in Alaska Airlines Arena, thanks in large part to Evanni Roberson.

The all around maverick earned the first perfect 10 on beam in program history while also grabbing a career-high in the all around with a 39.650. She also earned four individual titles, with wins on bars, beam, floor, and in the all around.

Michaela Nelson performed well for the GymDawgs as well, grabbing a season-high 9.850 on bars and a career-high on beam with a 9.875 in her first competitive routine this season. The senior finished second overall on bars and fourth overall on beam against Arizona.

Despite struggling on bars, Washington found success on the three other rotations. The meet was highlighted by the highest beam score over the last two seasons for the GymDawgs with a 49.475. Washington also scored the second-highest vault score of the season with a 49.150 and the third-highest floor score of the season with a 49.400.

Arizona State is coming off a home loss to UCLA.

		VAULT
Geneva Thompson earned a career-high 9.925 to take the invididual title. Evanni Roberson scored a 9.850, the second-highest vault score which helped her earn a career-high all around score of 39.650. Kristyn Hoffa, Amara Cunningham, and Madison Copiak were in the lineup for the GymDawgs as well, helping the team to a score of 49.150.

		BARS
Evanni Roberson earned the individual title on bars with a 9.875, setting a new season-high. Michaela Nelson set a new season-high as well, grabbing a 9.850 and the second-highest GymDawg score.

		BEAM
Roberson earned the first ever perfect 10 on beam in program history and first perfect 10 since 2004. This won her the individual event title and was a career-high score. Madison Copiak took the second-highest beam score for the GymDawgs with a 9.925. This set a new season-high and tied the career-high for the senior. Hannah Vandenkolk scored her fourth career-high of the season, earning a 9.900. Michaela Nelson earned a career-high 9.875 in her first beam competition of the season. Maya Washington and Brenna Brooks were in the lineup as well for the GymDawgs, helping the team earn a season-high 49.475 on beam.

		FLOOR
Roberson took home the individual event win on floor with a 9.925, making it a total of four event wins for the senior. Hoffa earned a 9.900, her fourth-straight floor score of 9.900 or higher. Amara Cunningham earned a 9.875 for the GymDawgs. Maya Washington and Brenna Brooks both took home a 9.850, making it five GymDawgs scoring at or above 9.850.
