February 20, 2020 | Gymnastics
TEMPE, Ariz. - Washington heads to take on Arizona State after grabbing the third-best team score of the season last weekend against Arizona with a 196.600. The GymDawgs had a historic meet against Arizona in Alaska Airlines Arena, thanks in large part to Evanni Roberson.
The all around maverick earned the first perfect 10 on beam in program history while also grabbing a career-high in the all around with a 39.650. She also earned four individual titles, with wins on bars, beam, floor, and in the all around.Β
Michaela Nelson performed well for the GymDawgs as well, grabbing a season-high 9.850 on bars and a career-high on beam with a 9.875 in her first competitive routine this season. The senior finished second overall on bars and fourth overall on beam against Arizona.
Despite struggling on bars, Washington found success on the three other rotations. The meet was highlighted by the highest beam score over the last two seasons for the GymDawgs with a 49.475. Washington also scored the second-highest vault score of the season with a 49.150 and the third-highest floor score of the season with a 49.400.
Arizona State is coming off a home loss to UCLA.
