Huskies Run Win Streak To Three With 5-2 Win Over Cal Poly

SEATTLE --- Washington ran its winning streak to three with a solid showing, beating Cal Poly 5-2 on the strength of five singles wins late Sunday night at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
The Huskies improved to 5-1 on the season with the victory while the Mustangs dropped to 1-1.
Washington opened the match with a win at No. 1 doubles as Jack Davis and Alexis Alvarez won 6-2. But Cal Poly would win 6-3 at No. 2 then clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win at No. 3.
The Huskies shook that off and played well in singles play, winning five of six matches. Washington quickly tied the match with another convincing win from its No. 1 as Jack Davis cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Cal Poly took back the lead with a win at No. 3, but Ewen Lumsden cruised to a straight-set 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 to put the Huskies back on top.
The final three matches all went the distance with things looking a bit dicey for the home side as Washington lost the first set in two of them. After losing his in the first set, Adam Torocsik rallied and pulled out a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 6. Jack Pulliam would then clinch the match for the Huskies, overcoming an 0-6 loss in the first set by winning 6-4, 7-5 in the next two for the victory. Liam Puttergill closed things out with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win on No. 5.
Washington takes the week off before heading back out on the road, traveling to face San Diego (2-1) on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. .
