Blake Bodily Signs Homegrown Contract with Portland

PORTLAND --- Washington standout midfielder Blake Bodily has signed a Homegrown Player contract to join the Portland Timbers the team announced on Wednesday and has joined the team for training this week.
Bodily becomes the fourth Husky to sign a homegrown contract over the last six seasons and the 16th Husky selected in the MLS draft of signed as a homegrown player over that same time.
"I'm very happy to see Blake take the next step in his career," said University of Washington Head Coach Jamie Clark. "He has worked tirelessly at maximizing his potential since arriving at Washington and has really made the most of his college experience. He was one of the best attacking players in the country last year and he is ready to play in the MLS. I know he will represent UW great in the years to come and we can't wait to see what he can do with the Timbers."
Bodily became just the third player in program history to earn United Soccer Coaches First-Team All-American honors and was named Washington's first Pac-12 Player of the Year in 12 seasons after a breakout junior year. He scored 12 goals and added six assists for 30 points in 19 matches, becoming the first Husky to score 12 goals since 2007 and the first to collect at least 30 or more points since 2006.
Bodily—a three-time First-Team All-Pac-12 selection and a 2019 MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist—tallied eight goals over his final nine matches including two goals and an assist in Washington's three NCAA Tournament matches. Overall, he recorded points in 14 of 19 matches he appeared in and accounted for 40% of the team's scoring while finishing 20th in the NCAA in total points and total goals. Seven of those goals and two assists came in Pac-12 matches.
Bodily appeared in 56 matches over three seasons at UW, scoring 17 goals and adding 18 assists over his Husky career.
