
Washington Set to Host Boise State In Home Opener

SEATTLE - Washington will look to continue their strong start to the season in their home opener against Boise State on Monday. The GymDawgs found early success on vault and bars, where they currently rank ninth and 16th in the NCAA, respectively.
Last season, the GymDawgs earned some historic scores when competing against Boise State. Eight career highs were scored in the meet, including Evanni Roberson in the all around and Geneva Thompson on both vault and bars. The GymDawgs earned their highest vault score since 2004 with 49.425.
Several young GymDawgs had impactful performances in the first met of the season at Michigan. Amara Cunningham scored a career high on vault with 9.825, Meaghan Ruttan made her floor debut for the GymDawgs, and Hannah Vandenkolk led the team on beam in her debut with a score of 9.800.

| The GymDawgs scored 49.100 on vault against Michigan, with four gymnasts scoring above or at 9.800. Madison Copiak started the season strong with a 9.825 showing. Amara Cunningham solidified her importance in the vault lineup, earning a 9.825 in the first meet of the 2020 season. Evanni Roberson earned the highest score of the meet for the GymDawgs on her vault, securing a 9.875. She also grabbed her first individual title of the season against Michigan in the all around category. Allie Smith competed in her first meet for the GymDawgs against Michigan and earned a 9.800 on vault. | ||

| Copiak snagged her first individual title of the season and a team-high score of 9.875 against Michigan. She had three event titles on bars in 2019 and six scores of 9.900 or higher. Roberson earned a 9.800 on bars at Michigan, good for the second highest score of the GymDawgs. Michaela Nelson got her 2020 season started on the right foot with a 9.800 showing at Michigan. Brenna Brooks began her 2020 season on bars as well, earning a 9.800. Maya Washington and Geneva Thompson both competed for the GymDawgs on bars as well, earning scores above or at 9.750 to help Washington earn a 49.050 team score. | ||

| Hannah Vandenkolk made her debut in the beam lineup against Michigan, earning the highest score for the GymDawgs on beam with a 9.800. The performance also earned her the Pac-12 Coaches' Choice Award. Roberson, Copiak, Washington, and Brooks also competed on beam against Michigan, leading the team to an overall score of 48.375. | ||

| Roberson secured a 9.850 at Michigan, the highest score for the GymDawgs during the rotation. Cunningham earned a 9.800 on her first floor routine of the season.
