
Ahmed, Harris Named To Hornung & Wuerffel Watch Lists

A pair of Washington football players β Salvon Ahmed and Nick Harris β have been named to preseason watch lists for the Paul Hornung Award and the Wuerffel Trophy, respectively.

The Hornung Award, presented by Texas Roadhouse, is presented annually to college football's most versatile player, and was won by Shaq Thompson in 2014. The Wuerffel Trophy, named for former Florida QB Danny Wuerffel, is given to the player who best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.

Ahmed, a junior tailback from Kirkland, Wash., has played in all 27 games in his first two seasons as a Husky. He enters the 2019 season with 996 career rushing yards on 165 carries, along with 34 receptions and 15 kickoff returns.

Harris, a senior center from Inglewood, Calif., was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection last season, when he started 13 of 14 games for the conference champions. He is also a two-time honorable mention Academic All-Pac-12 selection and earned honorable mention All-Pac-12 in 2017. He has also been named to the watch list for the Rimington and Outland Trophies.
