Elliott Finishes Seventh At Pan American U20s

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica - Rising sophomore Cass Elliott wrapped up his stint in Costa Rica today with a seventh-place finish in the finals of the 400-meter hurdles at the Pan American U20 Championships. Elliott sported the blue Team USA uniform this weekend to cap off a memorable freshman season.
After qualifying for the final on Saturday with the fourth-fastest time of 51.10 seconds, Elliott had a tough time in the finals today, running 52.83 to take seventh. Still, it's been a long and successful 2019 track season dating all the way back to the indoor campaign where Elliott earned All-America Second Team honors running the 400m leg on the distance medley relay, then going on to take fourth at the Pac-12 Championships in a UW Freshman Record of 50.38 seconds. The collegiate season wrapped with a 16th-place finish at NCAA West Prelims, then Elliott went on to take second at the USATF U20 Championships to punch a ticket to the Pan American Championships.
Saturday, fellow freshman Alex Slenning was fifth in the steeplechase for the Huskies.
