Winning Streak Ends At 16 As Huskies Fall 5-4

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The #3 Washington Huskies had their 16-game win streak come to an end, falling 5-4 to the Utah Utes in the final game of the series. Amirah Milloy had two extra-base hits for the Huskies, driven in two runs and scoring another.

The bottom half of the order was again excellent for the Huskies, with every batter six through nine recording a hit and a run. Sis Bates also had a hit in the game, driving in a run in the sixth as well.

Taran Alvelo started the game and worked four scoreless innings, only allowing one hit. She retired the side in order twice and struck out five batters. Gabbie Plain pitched the final two innings, taking the loss.

		SCORING
Sixth Inning: Washington broke through in the sixth, with the first four hitters all recording hits en route to a 4-0 lead. Milloy's triple broke open the game, driving in two runs, with Milloy scoring soon thereafter on a Bates bunt. Sixth Inning: Utah took its first lead of the game, scoring five runs in the inning.

		NOTES
Alvelo (4.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 5 K) has allowed only one baserunner in the first inning over her last five starts. Bates (1x3, RBI) joins Kimi Pohlman, Dominique Lastrapes, Sara Pickering, and Jaime Clark as the only Huskies to ever record 200+ hits in their first three seasons. Since starting her career 1-for-11 in the first plate appearance of the game, Bates has reached safely 56% of the time. Milloy (2x3, 2B, 3B, 2 RBI) set new career highs in single-season hits and RBI today. Milloy has hit .440 with 11 runs, 12 RBI, and eight extra-base hits in her last ten Pac-12 games. Plain (2.0 IP, 3 K) had her shutout streak end after 19.1 innings.

Washington will finish this week's road trip with an April 22 game against Utah Valley, at 10:00 am PT.
