Huskies Drop Match To #11 USC, 4-0

LOS ANGELES - USC was too much for the Huskies on Friday, as the Dawgs suffered a 4-0 loss to the Trojans. The Huskies defeat drops their overall record to 6-14, 1-4 in Pac-12 play. The win for #11 USC improves its overall record to 14-7, including 4-1 in conference match-ups.
Washington got off to a tough start in the doubles competition, falling in their first two matches before USC clinched the point. Senior Kawika Lam and senior Enzo Sommer got the action underway by losing the No. 2 doubles match 6-3 against Riley Smith and Tanner Smith. Freshman Ewen Lumsden and Freshman Adam Torocsik followed by coming up short against Jack Jaede and Daniel Cukierman 6-3 at No. 3 doubles. Jack Davis and Piers Foley were tied 4-4 at No. 1 doubles playing across from Brandon Holt and Laurens Verboven when USC clinched the doubles win.
The Huskies opened the singles portion of the day down a point. Freshman Ernesto Turegano fell to Tanner Smith 3-6, 4-6. Senior Sebastian Hawken dropped his match 3-6, 4-6 on Court 6 to give USC a 3-0 lead.
The match was clinched on Court 1 as Sommer fell to #16 ranked Daniel Cukierman 6-7, 0-6.
Davis was up 7-6, 3-3 when the match was clinched. Foley was even through two sets 1-6, 6-3, 3-2 and Lumsden was down 4-6, 2-5 when the match was suspended.
UCLA is next up on the schedule for the Huskies. They'll play that match on April 13 at 2 p.m.
