Huskies Drop Match 5-1 To Oregon In Pac-12 Opener

EUGENE, Ore. – The Washington men's tennis team dropped their Pac-12 opener to Oregon 5-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Dawgs took the doubles point and a 1-0 lead but fell in the five out the six singles matches.
The 34th ranked doubles team of sophomore Jack Davis and senior Piers Foley took down Charles Roberts and Armando Soemarno 6-2. The Senior duo of Enzo Sommer and Kawika Lam beat Riki Oshima and Thomas Laurent 6-4 to win the doubles point.
Freshman Ewen Lumsden and freshman Adam Torocsik were down 3-5 on Court 3 when the overall match was decided.
Oregon tied up the match at one as Laurent defeated Sommer on Court 1, 7-5, 6-2.
Freshman Kasper Smith dropped his match on Court 6 4-6, 4-6 to Roberts as the Ducks took a 2-1 lead.
Freshman Ernesto Turegano fell to Oshima 6-7, 1-6 to give Oregon a 3-1 lead.
Oregon clinched the victory on Court 2 as Coste beat Foley 6-7, 6-3, 6-2.
Lumsden dropped his match on Court 5, 6-7, 6-7 for Oregon's fifth point of the match.
Davis's match on Court 3 went unfinished. Davis was up 6-2, 4-6, 5-2 at the completion of the match.
With the loss, the Huskies dropped to 3-9 on the year and 0-1 in Pac-12 play.
UW will next be in action at home on Friday, March 15 to face Eastern Washington and Gonzaga.
