SEATTLE – The #7 Washington Huskies recorded their 11th shutout this season, blanking the Oregon State Beavers 5-0 to clinch their second straight Pac-12 series victory. Washington scored during the third at-bat of the game and never looked back from there.
Taran Alvelo retired 14 batters in a row in the heart of the game to stifle the Oregon State offense. She struck out 11, her eighth double-digit strikeout game of the season, and gave up just three hits. Oregon State did not move a runner into scoring position until two outs in the seventh inning, its only RISP all game.
Sis Bates scored a run in the first with a double and drove in another with a single in the third. Sami Reynolds, Emma Helm, Nawai Kaupe, and Amirah Milloy all scored as well, with Morganne Flores picking up an RBI in the game.
The Huskies and Beavers finish this series tomorrow at noon.
