SEATTLE - The Washington Huskies signed
KK Cornell today, adding the San Diego native to a promising 2019 freshman class. Cornell, a defender, is the fifth member of Washington's incoming freshman class alongside
Margaux Clarke,
Ally Remington,
Helena Reischling, and
Thao Nguyen.
"KK is an aggressive ball-winning player with a great attitude and a willingness to work hard and learn," said Lesle Gallimore about the new signee. "We're excited about her being a part of this incoming freshmen class."
Cornell played her club soccer with San Diego Surf in her native San Diego and played high school soccer at Cathedral Catholic. She was named the team's captain multiple times in her career. In 2017-18, she scored four goals for San Diego Surf's U-16/17 squad despite playing primarily in central defense.
"I chose UW because I love the all-women coaching staff," said Cornell. "My family has bled Purple and Gold since I was a little girl. I've always loved the community in Seattle and grew up loving the Huskies. Plus UW has one of the best nursing schools."
