Washington Ends Regular Season With Road Quad Meet

SEATTLE - The last meet of the regular season will be the Washington GymDawgs's second road quad meet of the year as the GymDawgs head to California. Washington will face off with Illinois, Yale, and host UC Davis in the meet before the postseason begins next week at the Pac-12 Championships in Utah.
The GymDawgs finished the home season strong last weekend, picking up two wins in two meets. In all, the GymDawgs earned ten outright or shared event titles in the two meets. Madison Copiak, Kristyn Hoffa, and Maya Washington all won multiple event titles over the two-meet weekend, while Monica Riley earned her first career all-around title in just her fourth meet competing all-around.

Washington's vault squad is peaking at the right time, with three straight meets earning scores over 49.000. That included a season-high 49.300, coming two weeks ago at Boise State. That was the highest vault score from the GymDawgs since 2017. Geneva Thompson earned her fourth vault event title of the season last weekend, against Southern Utah. She has recorded a vault score of 9.800 or higher every meet she has competed in in her career and now has four straight with scores of 9.825 or higher. Madison Copiak shared the vault title with Thompson, giving her two vault event titles this year. She had a season-best 9.875 on vault against Sacramento State and Iowa, then followed that with her second-best score of the year, a 9.850 against Southern Utah. Thompson and Copiak are the only GymDawgs averaging over 9.800 on vault, at 9.828 and 9.803. |

Washington's top-ranked event nationally, the GymDawgs moved up to 14th in the country on bars after two strong performances last week. Monica Riley, Madison Copiak, and Michaela Nelson lead the way, with Riley averaging a 9.818, Copiak a 9.807, and Nelson a 9.800. Riley was an All-Pac-12 selection last year on bars. Copiak matched her career best last week with a 9.925, earning the event title. That made it two weeks in a row that Copiak had earned a 9.925. Maya Washington would win the event title just two days later with her season-best 9.875. |

Madison Copiak and Malory Rose shared the beam title against Sacramento State and Iowa, the first beam event titles of the year for each. For Rose, it was her fourth career event title. Copiak averages a 9.827 on beam and has earned a 9.800 or higher in every meet since earning a 9.750 in the season's first meet. Maya Washington is averaging a 9.800 on beam and has had a 9.800 or higher in five of the last six meets. |

Kristyn Hoffa set a new career high against Sacramento State and Iowa and matched it next meet, earning 9.925s in each. Maya Washington also earned a 9.925 against Southern Utah, setting a new career high and tying for the event title with Hoffa. Hoffa averages a 9.873 to lead the GymDawgs and rank 46th in the country. She hasn't had a score under 9.850 in eight meets and hasn't been under 9.800 since 2018. Washington has been over 9.800 in all but one meet this year and now has had a 9.900 or higher in back-to-back meets. Monica Riley has earned scores of 9.850 in back-to-back meets, setting a career high and matching it two days later. |
