Washington With Highest Bars Score Since 2004 At Boise
March 01, 2019 | Gymnastics
BOISE, Idaho – The Washington GymDawgs fought hard in their first tri meet of the season, taking second just behind the #13 Boise State Broncos. Evanni Roberson won the all-around event title, the fourth time she has done so this year and her second all-around title in a row, setting a new career high with a 39.500.
That was one of eight career highs for the GymDawgs on the night, including two new career highs for Geneva Thompson, on both vault and bars. Washington shattered its season high on vault and bars with team scores of 49.300 and 49.425. It was the highest vault score for Washington since March 18, 2017 and the highest bars score since 2004.
"Vault and bars were our best this season; really impressive performances," said Elise Ray-Statz. "On those two events I saw the GymDawgs step up and step into what they're capable of. It was exciting to see and now it's time to put all four events together in our two home meets this next weekend."
