Lee Leads Huskies to 10th Place Finish at Southwestern Invitational

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. – The University of Washington men's golf team saved their best round for last on Tuesday at the Southwestern Invitational as they posted a 3-under 285 over the final 18 holes en route to a 10th-place finish at 26-over 890 (306-299-285). Washington improved upon its score in each round and its 3-under on Tuesday was the second-best score by any of the 12 teams.
Junior Henry Lee led the Huskies on the final day as he climbed 10 spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 20th with his total score of 5-over 221 (78-71-72). Over the last two rounds, Lee shot 1-under and his even-par round of 72 on Tuesday featured three birdies over his first six holes.
Sharing a tie for 38th and also moving up the leaderboard following their scores on Tuesday were sophomore Jan Schneider, freshman Paul Margolis, sophomore Noah Woolsey who each carded a 9-over 225.
Schneider had UW's best round of the event as he shot a 3-under 69 to jump 16 spots into his tie for 38th. The sophomore's round started with an eagle on his third hole of the day and was followed with three birdies over the next 15 holes to just one blemish. He improved upon his round one and two scores by nine strokes on Tuesday en route to his 9-over 225 (78-78-69).
Freshman Margolis also had his best round over the final 18, carding a 2-under 70, which was a 10-stroke improvement over his round two score. Margolis was also able to count an eagle on his scorecard as he recorded one on the par-five sixth hole while also adding three more birdies throughout the day. The freshman ended with a 9-over 225 (75-80-70).
Woolsey joined his teammates in saving his best round for last as he posted a 2-over 74 to move his three-round total to 9-over 225 (75-76-74). Additionally, freshman Padraic Sim finished 64th with a 28-over 244 (85-74-85) while Shamu Bodhidatta, competing as an individual, placed 65th at 29-over 245 (83-81-81).
Washington next heads back to California for the Lamkin Classic on March 11-12 hosted by San Diego State.
