Huskies Tied For 12th After First Two Rounds of Lamkin Classic

CHULA VISTA, Calif. – The Washington men's golf team sits in a tie for 12th place at 23-over par after completing the first two rounds of play at the Lamkin San Diego Classic on Monday. The Huskies shot rounds of 300 and 299 in the first day of play at San Diego Country Club.
"We had a tough day," said head coach Alan Murray. "Henry was our steadiest performer. He is a very steady player and his game is in good shape. We have relied heavily on Noah and he usually answers the call but today he had a tough one. Paul had it going in the second round but unfortunately got on a bogey train and let a potentially great round become an average one. Ranveer played solid with rounds of 74 and 76. Jan had a tough day at the office and although he finished well in the first round, he couldn't get it going in the second."
Junior Henry Lee is tied for 18th place at 2-over par after carding a 3-over 75 and a 1-under round of 71 in his first two rounds of play. Lee is tied for second in the field in total pars with 26 over his first two rounds.
Freshman Ranveer Grewal is 6-over through two rounds of play after shooting rounds of 74 and 76. Grewal heads into the final round tied for 46th place.
Sophomore Noah Woolsey is currently in a tie for 63rd place at 9-over par as he shot rounds of 74 and 79 on Monday.
Freshman Paul Margolis shot an 8-over round of 80 in his opening round but responded to card a 1-over par 73 in his second round. Margolis currently sits at 9-over and tied for 63rd place.
Sophomore Jan Schneider is tied for 82nd place at 14-over par as he posted rounds of 77 and 81.
Senior William Mansfield, competing as an individual, shot a 1-over round of 73 in his opening round as well as a 9-over round of 81 to put him in a tie for 70th place at 10-over par.
The course played difficult for the field as only nine players shot under par through two rounds. The field scoring average through the first two rounds was 75.07. Arizona State leads the tournament at 15-under par and 10 shots clear of second place Texas. Pierceson Coody from Texas leads the individual competition at 8-under.
The Huskies were fifth in the field in total pars with 105 through two rounds as well as being second in Par-3 scoring at 10-over.
