WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. – University of Washington junior Henry Lee led the Huskies following 36 holes at the Southwestern Invitational on Monday as he is tied for 32nd. The two-day event at North Ranch Country Club was shortened due to darkness on the course so not all teams completed their two rounds. Washington sits in 10th place and was unable to finish its second round, which will be completed prior to round three on Tuesday.
"Overall, it was a somewhat disappointing day and are in 10th place," said head coach Alan Murray. "With the break between events, I expected us to be playing better but we didn't come out strong today. Henry had a solid day and was able to put together a decent scorecard while Paul managed to steady himself despite a tough start. Padraic also rebounded despite a tough first 18. We just gave away too many shots out there and had too many big numbers so we're eager to get out there tomorrow and try to get a good round under our belt."
Lee climbed 20 spots during his second round as he posted a 1-under 71 over his final 18 holes. He is tied for 32nd with an overall score of 5-over 149 (78-71). He improved upon his round one score by seven strokes thanks to three birdies and just two blemishes while going clean on the remaining 13 holes.
Just one stroke behind him was Noah Woolsey as he sits at 6-over 150 despite a shortened second round as he has three holes remaining. Woolsey carded an eagle in on the par-5 12th hole during his second 18 after he finished his first round with four birdies and four blemishes.
Freshman Paul Margolis is tied for 52nd at 11-over 155 (75-80) while sophomore Jan Schneider is in 55th with a 12-over 156. Rounding out the UW crew was freshman Padraic Sim who is tied for 58th with a 15-over 159 (85-74). Sim improved upon his first round score by 11 strokes as he was clean on all but three holes during that second round.
Competing as an individual was Shamu Bodhidatta who also has to finish his second round on Tuesday. He is in 62nd with a 17-over as of now and will finish his finish three holes prior to round three.
