CATHEDRAL, Calif. – Nawai Kaupe's solo homerun in the seventh was all the #5 Washington Huskies needed for a 1-0 win over the Cal State Fullerton Titans. Gabbie Plain shutdown the Titans from the get-go, not allowing a hit until the sixth inning and setting a new career high in strikeouts with 14. Plain would strike out five of the first seven batters she faced in the game. In total, only five Titans would reach base all day.

Taryn Atlee had a perfect day at the plate, going 4-for-4. The junior doubled in her first two plate appearances, then added two more singles later in the game.

Fullerton's single dribbling through the hole on the right side to start the 6^th was the first hit and only allowed by Plain. The Titans would put two runners on in the inning and strand them both as Plain and a strong Husky defense got three straight outs to end the threat. Kaupe's homerun to leadoff the next inning would be the game's only scoring.

		SCORING
Seventh Inning: Kaupe went deep to leftfield for her first homerun of the year and a Husky lead.

		NOTES
Kaupe's (1x1, HR) homerun was her third career homer at the Mary Nutter Classic. Atlee (4x4, 2 2B) has reached base safely to leadoff the game three consecutive games. This was Atlee's first game as a Husky with multiple extra-base hits. Plain (7.0 IP, 1 H, 14 K) recorded her 25^th career win. Plain is the sixth Husky ever to record a game with 14 or more strikeouts.

The Mary Nutter Classic concludes for Washington tomorrow, with games against Northwestern at 9:00 AM and #23 Texas Tech at 11:30 AM.
