CATHEDRAL, Calif. – The #5 Washington Huskies took down the Cal Poly Mustangs 4-2 Friday afternoon. Washington's leadoff batter reached safely every single inning of the game, jump-starting the offense. Kaija Gibson would drive in two runs in the game, including the go-ahead run, while SilentRain Espinoza had her second career multi-hit game.

Pat Moore was excellent in the circle for Washington, allowing no earned runs in her 4.1 innings. She would retired ten in a row at one point, with 1-2-3 innings in the second, third, and fourth. Only three batters recorded hits against Moore.

Gabbie Plain would shine as well, striking out seven of the nine batters she faced, allowing only one to reach base. She earned her third win with her 2.2 innings of relief.

		SCORING
First Inning: Gibson kept her streak going with her sixth consecutive hit, driving in Bates for a 1-0 lead. First Inning: With two batters in scoring decision, Moore got the first two outs she needed, only for the next batter to reach via error and allow the tying run to score. Fourth Inning: Madison Huskey brought Espinoza home in the fourth, smoking a single into left for a 2-1 lead. It was Huskey's first career RBI. Fifth Inning: Cal Poly tied the game with an infield single. The throw from deep in the shortstop hole bounced out of the first baseman's glove, allowing the Cal Poly runner on third to score and tie the game again. Sixth Inning: With the first two batters on via walk, Washington brought them both home to retake the lead. Gibson brought home the first run, with Sami Reynolds reaching via error to bring in another.

		NOTES
The double in the first inning by Bates (1x3, R, 2B) was the 2000^th in school history. Gibson's (1x2, 2 RBI, BB) streak of nine consecutive plate appearances reaching base came to a close. It was the longest by a Husky since Ali Aguilar's 11 from March 5-6, 2016. The double off of Moore (4.1 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 3 K) in the first was the first extra-base hit she had allowed. She was one of two pitchers in the Pac-12 who had not allowed an extra-base hit yet. Espinoza (2x4) has recorded a hit in every start in her career and all but one game: a 0-for-1 pinch-hit appearance.

Washington has two more games tomorrow at the Mary Nutter Classic, playing Cal State Fullerton at 2:30 pm and Missouri at 5:00 pm on Yankee Field.
