Huskies Cruise Past San Diego State, 6-1

SEATTLE --- Washington returned home and picked up a nice victory on Friday afternoon, defeating San Diego State 6-1 in a non-conference matchup at Nordstrom Tennis Center.
The Huskies looked solid from start to finish, dropping just one match to improve to 3-5 on the season while dropping the Aztecs to 3-4.
"We are happy to come out on top tonight," said Head Coach Matt Anger. "We had a battle with them last year. It was great that we were competing so well on each court. For us to win consistently, we need to be applying pressure on every court."
The Huskies took home the doubles point with a pair of quick victories at #1 and #2. Jack Davis and Piers Foley opened things up with a 6-2 victory matched moments later by Kawika Lam and Enzo Sommer by the same score at #2. Ewen Lumsden and Ernesto Turegano were up 4-3 with a break at #3 when the other two matched ended.
Jack Davis got the Huskies going with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at #3 singles with Ewen Lumsden earning a 6-4, 6-3 win at #5. Washington would clinch the match at #4 singles as Ernesto Turegano took a 6-2, 6-3 victory. Enzo Sommer picked up a victory at #1 singles by a 6-4, 6-2 score and after SDSU took the #6 singles match, Piers Foley rounded out the day with a 6-4, 7-6 win at #2.
The Huskies hit the road again next week, traveling to Big Ten country to take on Minnesota on Friday, March 1, then face Indiana on Sunday.
