Dawgs Take Down WWU 87-63 in Exhibition

SEATTLE -- University of Washington sophomore Jamal Bey led UW with 20 points and freshman Isaiah Stewart added a double-double as the Huskies defeated the Western Washington Vikings 87-63 in exhibition play Thursday at Alaska Airlines Arena.
The Huskies jumped out to a 27-8 lead in the first half behind 11 points from Bey and 10 points from Stewart. The Huskies led by as much as 25 before finishing the half with a 46-23 lead.
UW continued to pull away from the Vikings in the second half, leading by as many as 30 points, en route to a 87-63 final.
Trevor Jasinsky led Western Washington with 19 points, including 5 three pointers. Jamal Bey contributed in all facets for UW, scoring 20 points to go along with 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals in an impressive showing.
The Huskies were dominant on defense, forcing 22 Western Washington turnovers and holding the Vikings to 30% shooting from the floor. On offense, UW had four players score in double figures, including touted freshman Jaden McDaniels and Stewart. McDaniels scored 13 points to go along with three assists, while Stewart totaled 14 points and 11 rebounds.
The Huskies will open up regular season play on Friday, November 8th against Baylor in the Armed Forces Classic before returning home on November 12th against Mount St. Mary's.
