Dawgs Head to DC for 35th Georgetown Intercollegiate

SEATTLE – The University of Washington men's golf team once again hits the road for its next tournament as it will compete at the 35th Georgetown Intercollegiate in Washington, D.C., Oct 14-15. The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Georgetown, will be played at the par 71, 7,035 yard Four Streams Golf Course with 36 holes played on Monday followed by 18 on Tuesday.
THE FIELD: Washington will be joined by 11 other teams in Washington, D.C. The field consists of Butler, Creighton, DePaul, Florida Atlantic, Georgetown, Loyola Maryland, Princeton, Rhode Island, Saint Joseph's, Seton Hall and William & Mary.
THE LINEUP: The Huskies will play in order Noah Woolsey, Bo Peng, Henry Lee, Jan Schneider and Paul Margolis while Petr Hruby will compete as an individual.
IN THE RANKINGS: The Huskies entered the national rankings this week as they are now No. 18 according to the Bushnell/Golfweek rankings. They are one of three Pac-12 teams to be in the top 20 in this week's rankings. Additionally, junior Noah Woolsey has moved to No. 68 nationally with his 71.12 stroke average over eight rounds.
PAC-12 GOLFER OF THE MONTH: Junior Noah Woolsey earned the honor of Pac-12 Golfer of the Month for September after finishing first in both events for the Dawgs to start the season. He tied for first at the Husky Invitational then took the outright individual title at the Old Town Collegiate with a one-stroke victory. He is the first Dawg to win Pac-12 Golfer of the Month honors since March of 2015 (C.T. Pan).
HUSKY INVITATIONAL CHAMPS: The Dawgs opened the 2019-20 season last week with a win as they defended their team title at the Husky Invitational. Washington won the rain-shortened two-round event by nine strokes finishing with a 22-under 554 (274-280). Juniors Noah Woolsey and Jan Schneider finished with a share of the individual crown closing the 36 holes at 6-under 138. Schneider's 6-under 66 in round one was the best showing by a dawg in the event.
WHAT'S BACK: Juniors Noah Woolsey and Jan Schneider were first and second on the team in stroke average a year ago while senior Henry Lee was third and all three return to lead the Huskies this season. Woolsey competed in all 10 events, posting two top 10 efforts and finishing with a 72.60 stroke average. Schneider recorded five sub-70 rounds a year ago and was UW's top finisher in three events. Lee, the lone senior on this year's squad, led the team with three top 10 showings a year ago.
WHO'S NEW: Washington welcomes three newcomers to the team this year in Bo Peng, Petr Hruby and Nate Anderson. Peng, originally from Nanjing, China, comes to Seattle from Lake Mary, Florida. Hruby is from the Czech Republic and competed for Bishop Gates Golf Academy in Florida before coming to the Pacific Northwest while Anderson is from Paradise Valley in Arizona.
FALL SCHEDULE: Head coach Alan Murray once again put together a solid fall schedule for the Huskies first hosting the Husky Invitational, then heading to the Old Town Intercollegiate, Sept. 23-24 at the Old Town Club in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Washington next competes at the Maridoe Intercollegiate at the Maridoe Golf Club in Dallas. Closing the fall slate, the Dawgs will play at the Four Streams Golf Club in Washington D.C. at the Georgetown Intercollegiate, Oct. 14-15 and conclude at the Ka'anapali Collegiate in Hawaii, Nov. 1-3, for the second-straight year.
HUSKIES IN THE PROS: Washington golf alumni have been very visible on the pro circuits this season with C.T. Pan has had a ranking as high as 35 on the FedEx Cup and has recorded one win and two top 10 finishes this season with his first PGA Tour victory coming at the RBC Heritage. He also finished tied for third at the Charles Schwab Challenge. Alex Prugh has earned a victory on the Korn Ferry Tour while Corey Pereira has posted three top 25 showings on the Korn Ferry Tour as well.
