TUCSON, Ariz. – The Washington GymDawgs shined bright in the desert, earning a win over Pac-12 opponent Arizona 196.525-195.650. Washington went over a team score of 49.000 on two different events, including a score of 49.400 on beam that was the team's highest since putting up a score of 49.475 on March 9 of last season.

Coach Elise Ray-Statz was proud of the team, saying that "it feels good to earn a solid road score early in the season. The team focused on improving from last competition, settling more into how they train, and they did that. We're hungry to fix more mistakes and sharpen up even more and very excited to be home this coming weekend."

The GymDawgs had four different individual scores of 9.900 or higher, led by Evanni Roberson's score of 9.950 on beam that earned the junior her first event title of the season and was the highest beam score by a GymDawg since 2004. Washington would also win event titles on vault, where Madison Copiak and Geneva Thompson tied for the title, and bars, where Copiak took the title home with her score of 9.900. Copiak would also put up a score of 9.900 on beam, a score matched by Malory Rose.

		VAULT
Thompson's score of 9.800 earned the sophomore her first collegiate event title, coming in just her second meet of competition. Copiak also won a share of the title, her second vault title in the last two seasons. In all, Washington put up a score of 48.925.

		BARS
Washington's bars score of 49.275 was its highest in that event since March 9 of last season, when they earned a score of 49.325. Copiak picked up her second event title of the night with her score of 9.900, matching her career high on bars and earning her first-ever bars event title. Monica Riley finished just behind Copiak with a score of 9.875. Thompson and Brenna Brooks each set new career highs with their matching scores of 9.850. Maya Washington also put up a score of 9.800.

		BEAM
Roberson set a new career high and clinched her first event title of 2019 with her score of 9.950. It was the highest score by any GymDawg since Riley put up a score of 9.950 on bars last season and the highest score on beam since 2004. Only four GymDawgs ever have had a higher beam score than Roberson's mark. Rose and Copiak each earned 9.900s on beam, matching career bests for each of them. Brooks continued her excellent meet with a score of 9.850. Maya Washington again earned a 9.800.

		FLOOR
Roberson came close to another event title on floor, leading Washington with her score of 9.875. Thompson and Kristyn Hoffa each put up scores of 9.800. The GymDawgs earned a team score of 48.925.
