Huskies Add Pat Moore, Livy Schiele To Roster
July 30, 2018 | Softball
SEATTLE - The Washington Huskies announced the addition of outfielder Livy Schiele and 2018 Big East Pitcher of the Year Pat Moore to the roster for the 2019 season. Moore joins a pitching staff that finished second in the nation with a 1.18 ERA last year en route to a second-place finish at the Women's College World Series. Schiele comes to Washington after missing the 2018 season while recovering from injury and will join an outfield group that hit over .330 last season.
During her high-school career, Schiele hit over .500 all four years, striking out just four times total while drawing 57 walks. As a senior in 2017, Schiele hit 29 extra-base hits in 27 games, her second straight year with over 25 extra-base hits. Schiele had a slugging percentage over 1.000 each of her last two years at Bishop's High School and had a career mark of .951.
Schiele was named to the All-State Second Team in California after her senior season, as well as to the All-Coastal League First Team.
Moore, a native of Medford, Oregon, led the Big East in ERA and finished second in strikeouts, going 12-6 with a 2.11 ERA and 158 strikeouts in 126.0 IP. The freshman led DePaul to a Big East championship and an NCAA Regionals trip. Moore was a part of six shutouts for the Blue Demons and recorded three saves as well. Opponents hit just .204 against Moore all season.
In Big East play, Moore pitched to a 1.80 ERA, with opponents managing just a .184 batting average. She struck out 56 batters against her conference opponents. In her Big East debut, Moore struck out a career-best 11 hitters, earning the win over Seton Hall. She had another double-digit strikeout game, against Providence, in Big East play before sealing DePaul's conference title with three scoreless innings of relief in the championship game.
Moore joins 2018 NFCA All-Americans Taran Alvelo and Gabbie Plain in Washington's rotation. Each member of that trio were named to NFCA All-Region teams in 2018: the Huskies have never before entered a season with three All-Region pitchers from the previous season on the roster.
