Winning Streak Ends in 4-0 Loss at Arizona State

TEMPE, Ariz. – The last regular-season road match ended in a loss for No. 50 Washington women's tennis as the squad was swept by No. 39 Arizona State on Saturday.
The Huskies (13-9, 3-4 Pac-12) kept it close in doubles against the Sun Devils (13-5, 5-2 Pac-12), but the home team prevailed. All three sets were battles. The Dawgs fell 7-5 at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
In singles, Washington won two first sets, but lost three. Stacey Fung and Miki Kobayashi both won their first sets, but neither of their matches finished before the team result was clinched. Fung was also on the brink of winning her match, up 5-1 in the second set.
At No. 2 singles, Vanessa Wong had an off day, dropping her match in two sets, 6-1, 6-0. On court six, Katarina Kopcalic also lost in two sets, 6-4, 6-1. The Sun Devils clinched the match with a win on court four, Alexis Prokopuik suffering a 6-2, 6-3 loss.
Washington will finish the regular season at home with three-straight matches. Next weekend, UW will host California and Stanford.
