SAN FRANCISCO - The Washington Huskies were honored with eight All-Academic awards from the Pac-12 today, showing their commitment to excellence in academics. Anissa Dadkhah earned First Team honors, while Kaylene Pang was named to the Second Team. Isabella Castro, Jessika Cowart, Pascale Dumesnil, Lisa Jensen, Taylor Sekyra, and Olivia Van der Jagt all earned Honorable Mention for their work in the classroom. The Huskies have had eight or more All-Academic honorees for ten consecutive years now.
Dadkhah becomes the 23rd Husky all-time to earn Pac-12 All-Academic First Team honors. Washington has had at least one First Team honor for seven years in a row now. An electrical engineering major, Dadkhah provided spark off the bench in the Husky midfield this season. This was Dadkhah's first year of eligibility for an All-Academic award.
Pang earned her first All-Academic award in her first year eligible for such an honor, making her way onto the Second Team after shining in the classroom and on the field. The sophomore started all 19 games for the Huskies and played every single minute, even scoring three goals, including the team's only brace this year, against California. In the classroom, Pang has carried a 3.92 GPA in her engineering major, making her way onto the Dean's List as well.
Dumesnil's Honorable Mention was her third All-Academic honor from the Pac-12. The senior ends her playing career having earned All-Academic honors every year she was eligible to do so. A business administration major, Dumesnil had a career high in points this year and ends her career with 21.
Sekyra also earned her third All-Academic award with this year's Honorable Mention. She started every game in central defense for the Huskies on the pitch, making it 47 straight Husky games started. Sekyra is a biology major.
This is Jensen's second consecutive All-Academic award. She is a business administration major and this year matched her career high in scoring. Jensen has started 38 of the last 39 games for Washington over the last two years and has two consecutive years playing over 1600 minutes for the Huskies.
Castro, Cowart, and Van der Jagt earned their first All-Academic awards this year, the first season that either has been eligible to earn that honor. Castro returned from injury this year to appear in 14 games off the bench for the Huskies. She is an environmental science major. Cowart served as an important part of the starting lineup as the holding midfielder, making 16 starts and appearing in all 19 games, and is a pre-science major. Van der Jagt was the leading scorer on the pitch for the Huskies, putting up 14 points and recording the third-longest point streak in UW history. She also earned Dean's List honors for her work as a nursing major.
