Washington Completes First Day of UCSB Classic

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --- The Washington men's tennis team began play at the UCSB Classic on Friday. Seven Huskies made their season debut while three freshman made their Husky debut as well. The tournament included four flights of singles and three flights of doubles with play continuing until Sunday.
In Flight A, freshman Ernesto Turegano Julian fell to Antoine Noel of Cal Poly 5-7, 2-6. Sophomore Jack Davis lost against Michael Genender of Stanford 2-6, 6-4, 2-6.
In Flight B, senior Piers Foley was matched up against Ethan Young-Smith from Oregon, winning 7-6, 6-1. Sophomore Alexis Alvarez lost to Henrique Osorio from Fresno State 1-6, 0-6.
In Flight C, freshman Adam Torocsik was head to head with Scemanenco from UC Davis falling 2-6, 2-6. Senior Sebastian Hawken won against Cambell Nakayama from Cal Poly 6-3, 6-3. Freshman Kasper Smith defeated Dariush Jalali from UC Davis 6-3, 6-2.
In Flight A Doubles, Davis and Foley took on Rotheram and Krustev from UCSB winning 8-7 (4).
In Flight B Doubles, Hawken and Turegano lost against Tsolokyan and Wild from UCLA 2-8.
In Flight C Doubles, Torocsik and Smith fell to Soto and Koyanagi from UCSB 5-8.
Second round and consolation action will continue tomorrow in Santa Barbara.
